It’s that time of year again! We celebrated cupcake day in aid of Alzheimer’s Society yesterday.
In the average time it takes to bake a batch of cakes, six people will develop dementia in the UK. Cupcake Day is a fantastic way to raise money for a fantastic cause. £2 pays for a sprinkling of much needed DNA duplicator, essential when conducting tests on DNA in the lab. £50 means someone could be there for five people for five hours of in depth support from Alzheimer’s Society Helpline team at a time of crisis. £150 pays for two people with dementia to attend singing for the brain sessions for one year, where they and their carers can go together for an hour each week to sing and dance with music.
We had a fantastic effort from all staff and everyone got involved – we raised £81.72 on the day with donations still coming in (plus plenty of cakes left over)! We also had a competition for best cupcake on the day, which went to our Marketing Manager Naomi Bell! A huge thank you to everyone who donated and got involved.
